Pray, Floss, Travel: The Good Life With A Christian Home Exchange

Who you are determines how you live.

Praying daily begins by being who you are in God’s eyes and spending time in God’s presence. As a child of God, I have a personal relationship with God.  I grow in this relationship by taking time to pray and read the Bible daily.  My relationship with God, then, determines how I live.  Talking with God each day in intentional, heartfelt worship and prayer changes me and blesses me each day.  Prayer is the first step in my daily walk as a child of God.

Taking care of my health is one of my responsibilities as a child of God.  We need to take this into consideration even when it comes to something as mundane as flossing our teeth.  What a great way to protect your health, as well as your social life.  Flossing is inexpensive and a healthy habit.  Regular flossing can reduce the risk of heart disease.  The mouth is a gateway for bacteria to enter our bodies.  Regular brushing and flossing of our teeth reduces the plaque and bacteria in our mouths.  The bacteria in one’s mouth can make its way into the rest of the body, including cardiac tissue.

Besides tooth decay and gum disease, brushing and flossing your teeth prevents halitosis–bad breath.  Bacteria between your teeth causes bad breath.   Flossing your teeth daily can enhance your social life, including your relationships with both friends and new acquaintances.  You can improve your whole life by flossing your teeth at least once each day.

As a child of God, I have social responsibilities, as well as personal responsibilities.  That’s why I say, “Travel often.”  Travel is a great way to gain perspective, to meet new people, and to discover both the need for–and opportunities to work for–social change.

Today many people do not take their allotted travel days or vacation time.  The number one reason for this habitual failure to take time for renewal is the feeling that one cannot afford to take a vacation.  Home exchanges help solve this problem.

A home exchange makes it possible to see the world–and to be able to afford it!

Not only is travel good for you, but people often cite travel as the number one thing they would like to do, “if they had enough money.”  Set a goal to use a home exchange for at least one vacation each year.

Take care of yourself.  Remember who you are and whose you are.  Protect your spiritual life by praying daily.   Protect your health by flossing daily.  Travel regularly and be blessed by the  wonder and the diversity of life beyond your everyday world.
