Alban Institute and Home Exchange

For 40 years, Alban Institute was an amazing ecclesiastical institution serving congregations and their leaders.

In 2014, this organization founded by the Rev. Loren Mead in 1974, entered into an agreement with Duke Divinity School to transfer it’s intellectual properties to Duke.

As a result of this agreement, Duke Divinity maintains an archive of the Congregations magazine published from 2001 through 2013.

The May/June 2002 issue of Congregations magazine on clergy stress and burnout, includes 2 articles on the use of a home exchange for an affordable sabbatical.

The How-To Of Home Exchange, was originally published as an online article.

A Novel Kind Of Sabbatical: Consider A Home And Ministry Exchange, was the article published in the hard copy issue of the May/June 2002 issue of Congregations magazine.

The information in these articles remains relevant, with one notable exception: Christian Home Exchange now offers more than 65,000 home exchange listings in partnership with the world’s #1 home exchange organization.
